· Millions
gained coverage: Obamacare expanded
health insurance to over
20 million people
who previously had none.
· Protections
mattered: People could no longer be
denied coverage for
pre-existing conditions.
· Cost
reality: While some costs rose,
the
law slowed healthcare inflation and
expanded preventive care.
· Republican
opposition: Many of the “liars and
thieves” claims ignore that
Republicans have tried to repeal it repeatedly,
not improve it.
· Public
support: Surveys show
most
Americans view Obamacare positively,
and the claim that 70% liked their insurance doesn’t capture the millions who
previously had no coverage or faced denial.
I see guys in my peanut gallery posting stuff about The
ACA. I guess cause now it’s their turn to own it(?) First of all, it wasn't
Obama's idea. It was the Heritage Foundation. An extremely right-leaning think
tank that gave it to Mitt Romney, who instituted RomneyCare in Massachusetts -
so its origins came from the Right, NOT Obama.
Sorry you were lied to about keeping your doctors, at
least you weren’t lied to about banging a porn star, demolishing the White House
or being best friends with a fing Pedophile…..Oh, wait…..nevermind.
No, the ACA is not perfect. It's
always been a work in progress. The Republicans have blocked every chance to
improve it. And they've had ten years to come up with an alternative. WTF
is even up with that? I thought we were going to see some details in 2
weeks - years ago!! NOTHING Not even some talking points or rough
ideas/numbers – “just concepts of a plan”
Was he lying??
That would be #34,617.
Now they own it. The question
is: Will Trump come up with an alternative in less than 45 days or will he
extend the subsidies until he does?
EDIT
He can’t extend the subsidies without the votes he’ll never get
I wouldn't hold your breath. I think this is what he and
Elon meant by "there’s going to be some pain" before everybody's rolling in the
dough, or at least he and his buddies will feel a little pain before they are
rolling– pain from us prols screaming and complaining.
Every administration in our lifetime has tried to
improve healthcare, other than the HIPAA and Portability Act in '96 under
Clinton and Part D in 2003 under Bush, nothing has really been accomplished
until Obama.
Most of you ultramagas are about to find out how much
you rely on the ACA to cover your PreX conditions and high cost meds., not to
mention your insurance premium pmnts. And how much it has lowered your medical
costs.
What has trump done to lower the cost of anything?
Losing Obamacare subsidies isn't even the worst part.
Losing Medicaid is what's going to really hurt.
If you really want to understand it, Chk this out.
Transitioning from Mortgage Banking to Insurance in 2011 I've been closely
involved with the ACA from it's inception.
This is the closest data I found
to explain it accurately.
You'd
all do good to watch it - This topic and the economy is going to decide the
election IMHO, so you might as well educate yourself.
